With every sting I'll sing, oh what a Beeutiful Day!
Ryan Gulyas Join Ryan as he shares some perspectives on the teachings of bees, how they often align with the seven priciples, and why it is important to cherish all moments in life, whether they are the moments that are oh, so sweet, or even those moments that sting! Ryan Gulyas is a Day Jobber, Naturalist, Garlic Farmer, Beekeeper, and a UU'er. On Sunday, June 18, 2017, he was visiting Niagara Falls with his family for Father's Day. Upon pulling into the parking lot at the Niagara Parks Commission Botanical Gardens, his wife spotted a wild swarm of honeybees. That serendipitous moment changed his life and has led to six years, so far, of a growing passion for these incredible creatures and the valuable life lessons that they set forth. |

Magic Words
Rev. Wayne Walder Often we forget how to go deeper in our lives, when it is not very hard. Our choice to go deeper can be helped by a few magic words. Rev. Wayne Walder, recently retired from his role as the minister of Neighbourhood UU Congregation in Toronto. For more than 30 years, Rev. Wayne has practiced meditation from a number of spiritual traditions. He has sung spiritual songs with Hindu priests and sat in meditation with Buddhist monks. He has participated in Buddhist ceremonies in the Himalayas and in caves with indigenous people. Rev. Wayne is comfortable with many religious traditions and his multifaith interest has allowed him to work with many spiritual leaders, including the Dalai Lama. He has also led groups in meditation at some of the most spiritual places in the world. |
Atheism, Theism and the Path of Spirituality
Lori Kyle Unitarian Universalism is considered by some to be a migratory faith since many UUs have moved from their religion of origin to UUism. Given the openness of our theology, grounded by the diversity of our six Sources, people of various faith backgrounds gravitate toward our faith, including humanists. On this Sunday Rev. Lori Kyle focuses on the prevalence of atheism/humanism in our UU faith, and how it is an often-misunderstood segment of our wider community. During our gathering we will consider the divergence of a theist and an atheist's walk of faith. |
