Join the Rev. Fiona Heath, Norah Love and Cynthia Nidd, and possibly others, as they offer short reflections on their time at our Canadian UU annual conference. Last weekend in Montreal they joined with hundreds of our fellow UUs to worship, learn and shape our tradition. What inspiration can we draw from UUs across the country?
Rev. Fiona Heath is our half-time consulting minister. Norah Love and Cynthia Nidd, long time members of the UUCD, were the UUCD's official delegates to the CUC Annual Meeting. Spiritual experiences, moments of Epiphany, profound "aha's", come in many shapes and sizes. Come out this Sunday to hear about some. Come out this Sunday to share some. (David is hoping for many contributions from UUCD members and friends.)
David Seale has been a member of UUCD since it was founded in 1996. He is an avid baseball fan. When he is not at work or walking the dog he is practicing. He is in a band and is our supportive pianist and singer for services. “Any moment called now is always full of possibles.” China Mieville. Today we’ll explore how imagination shapes the possible and the impossible.
Rev. Fiona Heath is our half-time consulting minister. "Today Canada is a global village. In order to enjoy the freedoms it offers, I feel that religious minorities like Muslims need to come up to modern times instead of living in the 7th Century. Many minorities bring excess cultural baggage with them when they come to Canada so the questions we must ask are: Is Canada's tolerance of minorities misplaced; is official multi-culturalism the culprit; and is political correctness choking our sensibilities?" (Raheel Raza) Today's talk will focus on Islam & modernity.
Raheel Raza is president of the Council for Muslims Facing Tomorrow. |
