Rev. Cheryl Jack is minister emerita of the UUCD. She enjoys her participation in the community as an officiant at rites of passage. She is also involved in the Big Sisters of North Durham and can often be seen with her ‘little sister’. She lives in Beaverton, on Lake Simcoe with her husband Andris Piebalgs.

Travelling is one such activity that we all engage in to some extent, but probably do not consider in terms of being a spiritual practice. Lori Kyle joined the UUCD family as our congregation's spiritual leader in October 2014. Climate changes are helping to spread the tick which causes this disease to far flung places where it has never been before – and where Doctors are not familiar with it. Peter Lauricella has been a member of UUCD for several years. Peter and his wife, Marilyn, lived most of their lives in Boston, Massachusetts before relocating to Port Perry. His hobbies include woodturning and playing the 5 string banjo. He is a volunteer with Durham Hospice, is a member of the Board of Scugog Council for the Arts, is Chair of The Lake Scugog Studio Tour and, at UUCD, serves on the Worship Committee and is a frequent service leader. David Seale is in the home stretch of his social work career, retiring in August. His activity at the UUCD has focused mostly on music and his years with the Worship Committee. Dave is the keyboard guy not only for UUCD but also for Cobourg area band Toast. He is beginning his 29th season with the same Whitby slo-pitch team. As UUs we draw wisdom from the world's religions, which all offer wisdom and assist us with meaning-making. Enlightenment is a central component in the Buddhist tradition. This Sunday we will explore how Buddhism enlightens our UU theology.
